Working name — the founding group can rename it
The Consortium
A small international group of researchers, clinicians, coaches, and gymnasts — being formed now.
Mission
The Consortium exists to make evidence-based injury prevention a mandatory part of coach education in gymnastics, across national and international federations. We bring together researchers, clinicians, coaches, and gymnasts to state what the evidence supports, turn it into practical coach education, and advocate for federations to require it.
What we do
- Publish consensus positions grounded in evidence
- Develop and endorse coach-education content
- Engage federations, coaching bodies, and athlete organizations
- Pursue funding that advances the mission
What we don't
- Certify individual coaches
- Provide medical advice to individual athletes
- Endorse commercial products
Where things stand
As of autumn 2026 the consortium is in formation: the scientific co-chair is being recruited now, with the founding group of 8–15 members convening by the end of 2026. The first deliverable is a peer-reviewed consensus statement on mandatory coach injury-prevention education — the document the group then takes to federations. The intended funding route for building the actual curriculum is an Erasmus+ Sport Cooperation Partnership.
Who's involved
The four voices the group always includes, current membership, and the commitment being asked of founding members.
Goals & timeline
Phase 1: developing evidence-based guidelines over an estimated 9–12 months, in five steps — and the potential future phases that turn them into practice.
The charter
Two pages answering the questions groups actually fight about later — credit, decisions, money. A draft for the founding meeting to amend and adopt.
